MVLE is excited to announce our participation in National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM)! Held each October, NDEAM is a time to celebrate the many and varied contributions of America’s workers with disabilities. The theme for this year — which marks 70 years since the first observance — is “My Disability is One Part of Who I Am.”
“This year’s theme encapsulates the important message that people with disabilities are just that — people,” said Jennifer Sheehy, acting assistant secretary of labor for disability employment policy. “And like all people, we are the sum of many parts, including our work experiences. Disability is an important perspective we bring to the table, but, of course, it’s not the only one.”
Reflecting this year’s theme, throughout the month, MVLE will be engaging in a variety of activities to educate our local community on disability employment issues and its commitment to an inclusive work culture. These efforts includes MVLE’s Annual Dinner Celebration, which will be held on October 20 at the Waterford at Springfield. This annual celebration recognizes the accomplishments of MVLE’s Individuals and our Community and Business partners.
MVLE is honored to work with amazing partners across our community to promote our mission of creating meaningful employment opportunities. These business partners provide supportive and inclusive work environments for our employees to help them be successful through their abilities, not focusing on their disabilities. NDEAM gives us the opportunity to say thank you to our partners and inspire others to join us in creating meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
MVLE supports over 500 individuals with disabilities and military veterans, with a commitment to creating futures one person at a time through employment and day support services.
